Safe Dogs are Happy Dogs…

Imagine that today you wanted to go lie on your bed for awhile. You head toward your bed but someone says no. You have to come sit over here. You try again to lie on your bed. Again you are told no. How would this make you feel? Consider whether when you command your dog to do something you are doing it out of necessity or if it's arbitrary. Giving our dogs a sense of deserved autonomy makes them feel safe. Safe dogs are happy dogs.
