Helping you help your dog.
I work with individuals and families in their homes and online to help them understand their dog. Sessions with me may look very different from what you are expecting or have experienced in the past. I do not “train” dogs so much as help them reduce their stress so they don’t get stuck in reactive behaviors, and find other means of dealing with their stress. I do this by helping the humans in their lives to help them on this journey. I develop customized learning plans for you and your dog using positive reinforcement methods only. Whether transforming a cute puppy into a good canine citizen or transforming a reactive dog into a reliable companion, my goal is to help you to build a stronger bond and relationship.
Package Services and Pricing
Mellow Dogs, LLC, offers services in packages with package pricing. This allows us to work with your dog without worrying about how much time is being spent helping you and your dog. As with any behavior modification program, we cannot guarantee results because it isn’t possible to guarantee the behavior of another living creature. We do offer excellent instruction and a detailed plan to help you and your dog. Consultations by phone are free, and any evaluations are part of your package.
Before Coming Home: We can help you prepare before you bring a new dog home. This can range from helping you to choose the right dog for you, your lifestyle, and your personal needs, to preparing a plan for bringing the dog home, to the handling and adjustment period. This can help set you both up for a lifetime of success. 2 sessions $200.00.
Puppy Life: This package is designed for the new puppy coming into your home. It helps you to set up basic skills that will help set your puppy up for success for the rest of your lives together. 4 sessions $500.00.
Adult Life: This package is designed for the adult dog who needs to learn the skills to coexist in your home with your family, including learning basic manners, socialization, work on leash, and interactions with all family members. This includes assistance with small issues unique to your situation. 4 sessions $500.00.
Canine Good Citizenship: This course is designed to teach the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) skills in order to pass and achieve the AKC Canine Good Citizenship test. This course includes an AKC CGC evaluation at the end of the course. 4 sessions $500.00.
Rehabilitation: This package is designed for the dog who has issues with significant shyness, fear, aggression, or other troubling and unwanted reactions, including resource guarding, barking and lunging on leash, separation anxiety, and attacking other dogs or people. 4 sessions $700.00.
Evaluation: This is a single, short session to determine what your needs are. Free with package. $125 if no package is selected.
Single Sesh Helper: This is a single session for those who don’t need or want a full package. 1 session $150.00.
Heartland Humane Society Discount: In an effort to encourage pet adoption, we offer a 10% discount on dogs adopted from Heartland Humane Society in Corvallis, Oregon. Some restrictions apply. Please inquire for more information.
Small Dogs
Did you know that second to Pit Bulls, the most euthanized dogs in America are Chihuahuas? How can this be? The sad truth is that many people adopt Chihuahuas without understanding the breed or its needs. Many of the ways that people interact with Chihuahuas help to create the very behaviors they wish to avoid. People don’t understand how to stop unwanted behaviors once they have started. This leads to untold numbers of these wonderful dogs being sent to shelters and euthanized.
Chihuahuas can make one of the most loyal companions, but it is important to understand them and make sure that what these dogs need matches your lifestyle. Dogs who have come from less than ideal situations will need special work to help them to overcome their traumas so they can become a full member of your family.
